Local sources in Pakistan report that Zahid Hussain, the head of the National Trade Group and the President of the Merchants and Intellectuals Association of Pakistan, has stated that Afghanistan’s territory under Taliban control is being used against Islamabad, referring to recent attacks by semi-militants on Chinese workers in Pakistan.

Zahid Hussain said on Monday that on the one hand, the Taliban are seeking trade relations with Islamabad, and on the other hand, their territory is being used against Pakistan.

He considered the Taliban’s expectations regarding the closure of trade deals with Pakistan unrealistic in the current situation.

The President of the Merchants and Intellectuals Association of Pakistan pointed out: “Terrorists seek to intimidate domestic and foreign investors.

“According to reports, Zahid Hussain stated that Chinese investors are secure in Afghanistan but insecure in Pakistan.

He has urged Beijing to cooperate with Islamabad to end the “terrorism” threats in Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning that following the recent suicide attack on a vehicle carrying Chinese workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistan Counter-Terrorism Center announced that an Afghan citizen was responsible for the attack.

According to the center’s statement, the vehicle laden with explosives used in this deadly attack was prepared in Afghanistan and transferred to Pakistan via the Chamman border crossing.

Five Chinese engineers were killed in this attack.

In response to the attack on Chinese workers’ vehicle in Pakistan, the Taliban had referred to it as an attempt to weaken regional relations.
