Naseer Ahmad Faiq’s statement on the suspension of Afghanistan’s right to vote in the United Nations

اظهارات نصیر احمد فایق در مورد تعلیق حق رای افغانستان در سازمان ملل متحد

Nasir Ahmad Faiq, head of Afghanistan’s delegation to the United Nations, said that the temporary suspension of Afghanistan’s right to vote in this organization was done for technical reasons and there was no political reason behind it.

The United Nations has announced that Afghanistan has lost its right to vote due to non-payment of its annual membership fee for two years.

Mr. Fayeq emphasized that this issue is not unique to Afghanistan and includes other countries as well. He said that the Afghan delegation is trying to solve this problem through UN administrative procedures.

Despite the suspension of the right to vote, the Afghan delegation continues to participate in UN meetings and present the views of the Afghan people.
