Organization of Islamic Cooperation Welcomes Recognition of Palestine by Norway, Ireland, and Spain
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a statement welcoming the decision by Norway, Ireland, and Spain to recognize the State of Palestine. The OIC described this move as an important and historic step in line with international law and United Nations resolutions. The organization called upon all countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to support its full membership in the UN as part of the international efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre officially announced that his country recognizes Palestine as a state, stating that there can be no peace in the Middle East without a “two-state” solution. Irish officials have also declared their government’s intention to formally recognize Palestine as an independent state.
