Deprivation of Education Rights for Afghan Women and Girls by the Taliban
Adam Wosornu, a coordinator of humanitarian aid at the United Nations (UN) organization, after a four-day trip to Afghanistan, stated that the Taliban have deprived approximately 1.4 million young women and girls of their right to education. In a press conference, Wosornu expressed the global community’s concern in this regard and urged the Taliban to lift the educational and work restrictions against women and girls in the country.
He also added that the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on Afghan women aid workers have added a layer of complexity to the aid delivery process in Afghanistan. Approximately 1.4 million young women and girls are still prohibited from pursuing education.
