Kuwait Urges Citizens to Leave Lebanon Amid Rising Israel-Hezbollah War Fears
Amid escalating fears of war between Israel and Hezbollah, the Kuwaiti government has urged its citizens in Lebanon to leave the country as soon as possible.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry also advised its nationals not to travel to Lebanon “at the present time, given the security situation in the region.”
Previously, some Israeli media outlets had reported that Hezbollah might launch a preemptive surprise attack against Israel.
On Friday, the Israeli Foreign Minister said that the country would soon make “necessary decisions” to stop potential attacks.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Israeli military approved operational plans for a large-scale attack on Lebanon amid rising border tensions with Hezbollah.
Hezbollah has linked halting its attacks on Israel to an end to Israel’s offensive on Gaza.
As border tensions continue, exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah on the Lebanese border have intensified, heightening concerns about a wider war. Earlier on Friday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said regarding these tensions that cross-border hostilities must not turn Lebanon into “another Gaza.”
