London police announced on Tuesday, July 10, 2024, that they have arrested a 30-year-old female prison officer for engaging in a sexual relationship with an inmate. The prison officer was arrested following the circulation of a video on social media showing her having sexual relations with a male prisoner.
Police authorities say Linda D’Souza Abreu has been arrested on charges of misconduct in public office. It is currently unknown when the video was recorded. However, the video circulated on social media shows the prison officer, still in her military uniform, engaging in sexual activity with a male inmate.
Police said Ms. D’Souza Abreu is due to appear in Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court for a judicial inquiry in two days. Prison officials refrained from further comment on the matter prior to the investigation. They stated that corruption among prison staff is intolerable and that the former prison officer, who is allegedly seen in the video, has been referred to the court for case review.
