Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has urged Pakistan to stop the forced deportation of undocumented Afghan refugees. She is particularly concerned about the “dark future” of women and girls being sent back to Afghanistan.

According to the AFP news agency, Malala Yousafzai said on Friday that she is deeply worried about the forced deportation of Afghan refugees to Afghanistan. This comes as Pakistan has continued the process of deporting undocumented Afghan refugees since November 1st of last year.

Islamabad has announced that Afghan refugees with residence documents can stay in Pakistan for another year, but has emphasized the continuation of the deportation process for undocumented refugees.

Human rights observers have warned that some of the individuals deported to Afghanistan have faced harassment by the Taliban group, although the Taliban deny these reports.

Malala Yousafzai, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, has called for a halt to the forced deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan and expressed deep concern about the situation of women and girls being returned.
