Following heavy rainfall and devastating floods in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, at least 5 people have lost their lives. Ihsanullah Ihsan, the director of natural disaster damage assessment for the Taliban government in the province, announced that a woman was killed due to severe rains in Asmar district. Additionally, in the village of Dam-e-Asadabad, floods claimed the lives of three people, including a woman and two children, while another person went missing in the Adwal area, and their body has not been found yet.

Apart from the loss of life, these floods have also caused significant damage to infrastructure and agricultural lands. Officials at the central hospital in Asadabad confirmed that the bodies of three victims had been transferred to the medical center so far.

This year, due to climate change, Afghanistan has experienced heavy rainfall and destructive floods during the summer season, resulting in numerous casualties and extensive property damage for the people. Authorities have urged residents in high-risk areas to exercise necessary caution.
