Germany Tightens Border Controls to Combat Irregular Migration

Germany has announced plans to implement stricter border controls at all nine of its land borders to address irregular migration and protect against potential security threats

Interior Minister Nancy Faeser stated, “We want to further reduce irregular migration. To this end, we are now taking further steps that go beyond the comprehensive measures currently in place”.

The temporary controls, set to begin on September 16, will last for six months and include borders with France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark.

This move comes in response to recent security concerns and aims to strengthen internal security while maintaining a firm stance against irregular migration.
