Pakistan’s Defense Minister Slams Provincial Leader’s Plan to Negotiate with Taliban
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly condemned the proposal by Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, to directly negotiate with the Taliban.
Asif labeled this move as an attack on Pakistan’s federal system. Gandapur had stated his intention to negotiate with the Taliban in Afghanistan, disregarding Islamabad’s policies.
The Chief Minister cited increasing insecurity from TTP attacks as the reason for his decision.
However, Asif emphasized that no one could negotiate directly with other countries, highlighting the tension between provincial autonomy and national security policies.
