US House Condemns Biden Administration for Afghanistan Withdrawal Fiasco

مجلس نمایندگان امریکا دولت بایدن را به دلیل فاجعه خروج از افغانستان محکوم کرد

In a significant move, the US House of Representatives has passed a resolution condemning President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other Biden administration officials for their poor handling of the US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. The resolution, approved with 194 votes, saw 10 Democrats joining the Republicans in this criticism.

NBC News reported on Thursday, September 26, 2024, that the resolution, presented by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, particularly criticized the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. Committee Chairman Michael McCaul highlighted that relying on the Taliban for security at checkpoints outside Kabul airport led to an explosion that killed 13 US soldiers.

The resolution also implicated Vice President Kamala Harris, stating she played a key role in the administration’s decision to withdraw troops. This comes amid growing tension, with the committee recently accusing Secretary of State Antony Blinken of disrespecting Congress by not appearing before the House.

The Afghanistan withdrawal has become a hot topic in the upcoming November elections. Former Vice President J.D. Vance criticized the Biden administration’s management, calling it “shameful” that no general was held accountable for the poor performance.

Adding to the controversy, a White House official revealed that family members of the fallen soldiers did not invite Biden and Harris to the Arlington National Cemetery for the third anniversary of the tragic event last month.

As the 2024 presidential race heats up, the Afghanistan withdrawal continues to be a contentious issue, with former President Trump blaming the Biden administration and considering Harris a “partner in disaster.”
