UNAMA Calls for Investigation into Shooting of Afghan Migrants

خواست یوناما برای تحقیق درباره تیراندازی به مهاجران افغان

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has called for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the shooting of Afghan migrants at the Iranian border. This request follows reports of several Afghan refugees being killed and injured near the Saravan border in Iran.

UNAMA has expressed deep concern in its X page about reports of group shootings of Afghan migrants by Iranian border guards in the Kalgan area, located at the Iran-Pakistan border. The office emphasized that the rights of migrants and refugees must be respected according to international laws.

Amnesty International has also described these reports as “horrific” and called for a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, the Taliban have announced the start of investigations into this matter. Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iran’s special envoy to Afghanistan, has labeled reports of shootings at Afghan migrants at the Iranian border as “false.”

Although the exact number of migrants shot by border guards is not clear, sources reported two days ago that over 200 individuals were shot while crossing the Iranian border.
