Taliban: Afghanistan Only Country Fully Implementing Sharia Law

Khalid Hanafi, the Taliban’s Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, claimed during his recent visit to Nangarhar province that Afghanistan is the only Islamic country fully implementing Sharia law. During this trip on Sunday, October 20, Hanafi urged people to cooperate with the ministry’s morality police in implementing the “Promotion of Virtue” law.

The Taliban minister asserted that “by the blessing of Islamic Sharia,” drug abuse, moral corruption, and kidnapping have been prevented in Afghanistan. He also claimed that since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, all citizens have access to their Sharia rights.

However, human rights organizations and the international community have expressed concern about the implementation of this law. Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, recently stated that the Taliban’s “Promotion of Virtue” law has formalized the exclusion of women from public spaces.

Nevertheless, the Taliban remain firm in their stance. Abdul Kabir, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, emphasized that the group will not compromise their “Islamic rituals” to please others and will not negotiate on this matter with anyone.

This development highlights the ongoing tension between the Taliban’s interpretation of Islamic law and international human rights standards, particularly concerning women’s rights and freedoms in Afghanistan. #Taliban #Sharia #Afghanistan #PromotionOfVirtue #HumanRights #Women
