WFP Warns: Food Crisis Escalates in 22 Countries Including Afghanistan
The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced a growing food security crisis across 22 countries, including Afghanistan.
In a statement released on Thursday, Aqrab 10th, the organization highlighted how conflicts, climate challenges, and economic pressures are pushing millions toward catastrophic conditions.
The UN agency has specifically identified critical “hunger hotspots” requiring immediate intervention. Palestine, Sudan, South Sudan, Haiti, and Mali are experiencing particularly devastating conditions, with their populations suffering from severe poverty and acute malnutrition.
The situation is expected to deteriorate between November 2023 and May 2024, with the WFP emphasizing that access to nutritious food isn’t just a basic need but a fundamental human right. The organization faces unprecedented challenges in meeting global food assistance requirements.
