Trump’s Historic Victory: Latino Voters Shift Reshapes 2024 Election
Donald Trump secured a remarkable victory in the 2024 presidential election, largely due to unprecedented support from Latino voters, young Americans, and those without college degrees. His campaign promises focusing on worker protection from global economic competition and extensive tax cuts resonated strongly with these demographics.
According to Edison Research exit polls, the most striking shift was observed among Latino voters, with Trump securing 46% of their support, compared to 32% in 2020. This marks the highest support ever recorded for a Republican presidential candidate from this traditionally Democrat-leaning demographic.
Despite Trump’s strong anti-immigration stance and promises of mass deportation, many Latino voters aligned with his positions. Notably, approximately one-quarter of Latino voters supported the deportation of undocumented immigrants, demonstrating a significant shift in traditional voting patterns.
