Qatar Denies End of Gaza Mediation, Confirms Temporary Suspension
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has refuted reports about ending its mediation role in the Gaza conflict while acknowledging a temporary suspension of talks. Majid Al-Ansari, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, made this announcement to the state news agency on Saturday, November 9.
Al-Ansari revealed that Qatar had informed involved parties about this development ten days ago. The country explicitly stated it would pause mediation efforts until Israel and Hamas demonstrate “will and seriousness” to resume negotiations.
Qatar, alongside the United States and Egypt, has been serving as a key mediator between Israel and Hamas for ceasefire negotiations and the release of Israeli hostages. Recent reports suggest the US has requested Qatar to end Hamas’s political office operations in the country.
