Kim Jong Un Orders Military Readiness Amid Rising Regional Tensions
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for strengthening military capabilities for actual warfare, citing escalating tensions with the United States and its allies. The announcement came through North Korea’s state news agency KCNA on Monday, November 18, during a meeting with senior officials.
This directive follows significant developments in North Korea’s international relations, including the deployment of thousands of North Korean troops to Russia and the ratification of a comprehensive cooperation treaty between Pyongyang and Moscow. The treaty, signed by both leaders in June and recently ratified by Vladimir Putin on November 13, includes mutual defense commitments.
Kim Jong Un emphasized that threats from the United States and its allies, including South Korea, have reached “the worst stage in history.” Additionally, he recently ordered the mass production of suicide drones, which were first unveiled in August and are designed to function like guided missiles for deliberate strikes against enemy targets.
