Syria Crisis Deepens as Rebels Capture Parts of Aleppo

تشدید بحران سوریه با تصرف بخش‌هایی از حلب توسط شورشیان

The recent capture of significant parts of Aleppo by Sunni rebels has prompted new diplomatic initiatives. During a joint press conference in Ankara on Monday, December 2nd, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the need for the Syrian government to reach an agreement with its people and opposition forces.

Fidan called for the revival of the Astana talks involving Russia, Iran, and Turkey. While Moscow and Tehran support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Ankara backs the rebel coalition known as the “Syrian National Army,” comprising various factions.

According to AFP, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian pledged unwavering support for Assad in a phone conversation today. Reuters reported that Iran-backed militias, including Hashd al-Shaabi, Kataib Hezbollah Iraq, and the Fatemiyoun Division, have entered Syria to reinforce besieged army positions in the north.
