Deadly Crashes on Kabul-Kandahar Highway Leave 123 Dead and Injured
Two fatal traffic accidents on the Kabul-Kandahar highway last night resulted in 47 deaths and 76 injuries. The incidents occurred in the Shahbaz area of central Ghazni province and the Nani Bazaar area of Andar district.
According to the Ghazni Governor’s office, the two incidents took place around 11:00 PM, approximately 15 kilometers apart. In both accidents, type 580 buses collided with a gas tanker and a trailer truck.
Local authorities have cited driver carelessness as the main cause of these deadly incidents. The Kabul-Kandahar highway is one of Afghanistan’s main and busiest transportation routes.
