Nine Prisoners, Including Two Afghans, Executed in Iran
The Iran Human Rights Organization announced that the death sentences of nine prisoners, including two Afghan citizens, were carried out in Qazal Hesar prison in Karaj province, Tehran. The organization stated in a statement released on Friday, January 3, 2025, that the death sentences were issued two days prior.
According to the statement, six prisoners were sentenced to death for premeditated murder, and three for drug-related charges. The two executed Afghans were named Pasha and Amir, with Pasha being executed for drug offenses and Amir for premeditated murder.
This human rights organization, operating from outside Iran, specified that these prisoners were transferred from Evin and Tehran Great Prisons to Qazal Hesar for execution. Since the Taliban group regained control of Afghanistan, the number of Afghan citizens executed in Iran has increased.
