The Taliban group has arrested their former commander, Abdul Hamid Khorasani, following the release of an audio file criticizing Sirajuddin Haqqani, the group’s interior minister. Reliable sources in Kabul confirmed this news on Monday, February 3, 2024.
In the audio file, Khorasani harshly criticized Haqqani, accusing him of being dishonorable and cowardly. He also alleged that Haqqani had provided weapons to Khalqi, Parchami, and Communist groups, marking a significant internal dispute within the Taliban leadership.
The Taliban stated that the arrest was due to Khorasani’s “insulting remarks” and his attempts to create division within the group. In his message, Khorasani had demanded Haqqani to stop his hypocrisy towards Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s supreme leader.
