Syed Rasoul Mousavi, former Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, stated at the second symposium of Iranian, Afghan, and Russian intellectuals in Tehran that the Taliban group has reverted to their first-era governance style, ruling based on Pashtun ethnicity and a specific interpretation of Hanafi jurisprudence.

According to Mousavi, despite relative success in maintaining security and combating drug cultivation, the Taliban group has failed to fulfill their promises regarding the formation of an inclusive government, girls’ education, and women’s rights.

He highlighted the lack of global consensus on cooperation with the Taliban group, noting that the UN has confirmed the presence of terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS in Afghanistan. Additionally, the International Criminal Court’s prosecutor has called for the arrest of Taliban’s leader and supreme court chief.
