During a Friday meeting at the White House, US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in a heated verbal exchange. Trump, claiming Ukraine’s defeat in the war against Russia, accused Zelenskyy of being ungrateful for American assistance.
The meeting, intended for signing a mineral revenue sharing agreement, turned confrontational when Trump threatened to withdraw US support if Ukraine refused to make a deal. Zelenskyy, in turn, protested Trump’s soft approach toward Putin and urged against compromising with “a killer.”
Tensions escalated to such a degree that the post-meeting press conference was canceled, with Zelenskyy departing the White House earlier than scheduled. The White House confirmed that the proposed agreement between the two parties remained unsigned.
