Following the announcement of a ban on broadcasting images of living beings in Farah province, the National Television station, under Taliban control, has ceased its visual broadcasting operations and converted to radio format. The Afghanistan Journalists Center reported this development on Thursday, March 7, 2025.
According to the released report, Farah National Television currently has no visual programming, and all its reports are being broadcast in audio format only. This transformation comes as a direct result of implementing the new directive prohibiting the broadcast of images containing living beings.
A local journalist in Farah has reported that while this restriction has not yet been imposed on private media outlets, some local Taliban officials are refusing to participate in video interviews.
