The Kremlin announced that Moscow and Washington are consulting on implementing a 30-day ceasefire aimed at ending the bombing of energy infrastructure in Ukraine and Russia. This statement was released moments after the White House issued statements about an agreement between Russia and Ukraine to reduce tensions on the battlefield.

According to AFP, the Kremlin statement indicates that Russia and the United States have agreed to define parameters to implement an agreement between the presidents of both countries prohibiting attacks on energy facilities for a thirty-day period.

This agreement could be the first significant step toward de-escalation in the Ukraine war, which began in February 2022 and has since caused extensive damage to critical infrastructure in both countries.
