Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, responding to the recent agreement between the United States and Yemen’s Ansarullah movement (Houthis), claimed: “I am guided by one strategic principle: Israel will defend itself alone against any threat, anywhere.”
These remarks came after Donald Trump’s decision to halt military strikes against Yemen, a move interpreted in Israeli political circles as “indifference” and even “abandoning Israel” by the United States. Hebrew-language media reported that the lack of prior coordination with Tel Aviv has created serious concerns within the Israeli government.
Oman’s Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday night that it had successfully mediated between the US and Ansarullah. According to the released statement, the agreement ensures neither party will target the other, and shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait will remain free.
