Pakistani media outlets have reported that the Taliban group has assured Islamabad of securing Pakistan’s western borders.

The Express Tribune reported on Monday, May 12, 2025, that Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Interior Minister, provided these assurances during a meeting with Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, and China’s Special Envoy.

According to the report, amid tensions between Pakistan and India, the Taliban Interior Minister reassured Islamabad about maintaining peace along Pakistan’s western borders. Sirajuddin Haqqani also called for increased regional cooperation during the discussions.

The report also indicates that representatives from China and Pakistan discussed economic, security, and political cooperation with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister.
