Shakria Barkzai, former Afghan ambassador to Norway, has been elected as deputy of the World Freedom Congress.
The international organization said her selection demonstrates their commitment to inclusive leadership and strengthening women’s roles.
The second World Freedom Congress began in Berlin with representatives from 60 countries.
This three-day summit focuses on combating authoritarian governments and strengthening civil resistance.
Barkzai emphasized the importance of teamwork and solidarity, stating: “Together we stand for freedom, equality and justice.” The congress coincided with the 36th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
