German police announced that at least 12 people were injured in a knife attack at Hamburg’s central train station. The incident occurred around 6 PM local time on Friday, May 23, at one of Germany’s busiest transportation hubs, which sees more than 550,000 passengers pass through daily.

According to the Hamburg fire department spokesperson, six people were seriously injured in the attack, while six others suffered minor injuries. Three of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition, and three others have serious injuries. Some of the victims received treatment inside the train.

Hamburg police stated in a message on the social network X that a 39-year-old woman has been arrested as the suspect in this attack. The incident took place near platforms 13 and 14, adjacent to a busy street, and an extensive police operation continues at the scene. The motive for the attack has not yet been determined, and police have announced that more information will be provided soon.
