Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced in a post on Truth Social that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is now “effective immediately.
” Around 9:40 AM Kabul time, he wrote: “The ceasefire is now in effect” and urged the conflicting parties not to violate it.
This ceasefire announcement came as Iranian state media had previously reported that Iran fired “the final round of missiles” toward Israel before the ceasefire began.
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, had earlier emphasized that there was no agreement regarding a ceasefire, stating that Iran would only refrain from further responses if Israel stopped its attacks by 4 AM.
Israel had reported identifying waves of missile attacks from Iran that resulted in the deaths of at least four people in southern Israel. It’s worth noting that Israel had not publicly accepted the ceasefire proposal until Trump’s announcement.
