Abdul Hamid Ismaeelzahi, a prominent Sunni cleric in Iran, expressed gratitude during Friday prayers in Zahedan for the warm reception Taliban provided to Iranian pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia through Afghanistan.

He explained that due to Iran’s closed airspace, he had several options for returning from Saudi Arabia and chose the Afghanistan route specifically for its security.

The Iranian cleric stated: “The remarkable thing I witnessed there that impressed me was the prevailing security.

Corruption has been eradicated from that land.” According to him, security in Afghanistan today is so strong that if a woman travels at night from one part of the country to another, no one would look at her maliciously; even if a vehicle is parked outside a home, no one dares to steal it due to the established security.

However, his claim that women can freely travel at night from one province to another faces serious critics. This comes despite Abdul Hamid previously criticizing the Taliban for denying women education, saying: “By what religious permission have you prevented girls from education?

” and calling for the reopening of schools and universities. He confirmed that he had also traveled to Kabul and returned to Zahedan this morning from Afghanistan.
