Bakhtiyor Saidov, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, arrived in Kabul on Thursday, July 17, leading a high-ranking delegation.

The Taliban group announced that the purpose of this delegation’s visit is to expand bilateral relations and discuss the implementation of regional projects, including the Trans-Afghan Railway.


Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, is also scheduled to visit Kabul on Thursday to participate in a trilateral meeting with the Uzbekistan delegation and Taliban representatives.

The Taliban’s deputy spokesman stated that Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister will also meet with the group’s Prime Minister.


The Taliban’s Foreign Ministry has declared that the purpose of these two countries’ officials’ visits is to hold political-economic discussions and sign an agreement for feasibility studies of the Trans-Afghan Railway. This visit continues regional efforts to expand economic cooperation with Afghanistan.
