The human rights organization “Hengaw” has reported the detention of Sarah Gohari, a 29-year-old Afghan student in Iran.
According to this report, Gohari was detained about 10 days ago, on July 6, 2025, at the Taybad border.
Iranian authorities have not yet provided any reason for her detention.
Prior to her detention, Gohari had posted on her Instagram page that she intended to travel to the Taybad border area to conduct research about Afghan migrants.
Meanwhile, Hengaw, an organization that covers human rights violations in Iran, has recently reported the detention of several Afghans in Iran.
This detention coincides with an unprecedented increase in the forced deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran.
Numerous reports of increased violence against Afghan migrants have been published, and human rights concerns in this regard have escalated.
