The Houthi group, has confirmed rescuing 10 crew members from the cargo ship Eternity C, which sank in the Red Sea in early July following their attack.
The militant group released a six-minute video on Monday, July 29, showing footage of crew members making calls to their families.
The Houthis have claimed that the ship’s crew was unaware of the maritime ban they had declared on vessels heading to Israeli ports.
According to them, the Eternity C was en route to Israel’s Eilat port to load chemical fertilizer before it was sunk. Five other crew members are believed to have been killed in the attack.
A Houthi military spokesman announced one day before releasing the video that their military operations had entered a “fourth phase,” warning they would target all ships heading to Israeli ports regardless of nationality.
Since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, the Houthis have carried out more than 145 attacks against commercial vessels, significantly reducing activity at Israel’s Eilat port by 90 percent.
