After months of anticipation and hype, Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, finally released in theatres on Thursday, August 14, 2025, and has become nothing short of a festival for his fans.

People thronged theatres for the early morning shows, and in a Mumbai theatre, fans were seen dancing inside the venue, wearing t-shirts with Rajinikanth’s face printed on them


In footage from outside Mukunda theatre in Bengaluru, Karnataka, fans gathered for the first day, first show of Coolie and were seen dancing enthusiastically to the beats of dhol before entering the cinema hall.

A massive cutout of Rajinikanth was erected outside the theatre, alongside a poster reading “50 years of Rajinism.” The celebrations highlight the superstar’s enduring popularity across different regions of India.


In Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli, women carried flowers on their heads as part of a religious ritual, while men danced to the sound of drums as they prayed for Rajinikanth and the success of his film.

Coolie is expected to shatter box office records with projected opening day collections of Rs 100 crore, despite competing with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2.

The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, also stars Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Upendra in key roles, adding to its appeal across multiple film industries.
