South Korean gaming giant Krafton, maker of PUBG: Battlegrounds, announced plans to invest at least $50 million annually in India

This strategic move aims to capitalize on the ban of Chinese competitors in one of the world’s fastest-growing gaming markets.

The company is exploring acquisitions and expansion opportunities in the region.

Sean Sohn, Krafton’s India head, highlighted India’s massive opportunity with 65% of its 1.4 billion citizens under 35 years old.

Despite the market’s price sensitivity and resistance to new games, Indian gamers show strong loyalty once engaged, presenting excellent long-term customer retention potential.

India’s gaming market grew by 12% last year, reaching 444 million gamers.

While currently one-fifth the size of South Korea’s $14.4 billion gaming industry, India’s rapid growth makes it an attractive investment destination.

Krafton also plans to establish a research and development unit in India by next year, with Bangalore and Pune as top location choices.
