Mohammad Aziz, a 35-year-old worker from Nurgal district in Kunar province, described his village’s situation as horrific after losing five children in the recent earthquake .

He said at least 10 of his relatives have lost their lives and many others are still trapped under rubble.

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan late Sunday night, with Kunar, Nangarhar, and Laghman provinces suffering the most damage .

Shahzad Jamil, Concern Worldwide’s country director, said the affected areas are mountainous and remote, making access difficult.
