Pakistani officials announced that at least 14 people were killed and 40 others injured following a suicide bombing at a Balochistan National Party gathering in Quetta .

The explosion occurred on Tuesday night, September 2nd, near vehicles of political officials including Sardar Akhtar Mengal, leader of the Balochistan National Party.


The blast happened during a rally commemorating the death anniversary of Sardar Attaullah Mengal, a nationalist leader and former Chief Minister of Balochistan .

The suicide bomber detonated himself in a parking area as people were leaving the gathering, damaging over 12 cars and motorcycles.


Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Chief Minister of Balochistan, called the incident a cowardly act by enemies of humanity and ordered high-level investigations .

So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Pakistan has witnessed increased terrorist attacks since 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
