The Taliban group in Afghanistan’s Khost province has painted over chicken images on shop signs as part of their ban on publishing photos and videos of living beings.

This action follows the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue’s restrictions on displaying images of humans and animals.

Local shopkeepers have criticized this decision, calling it ridiculous logic.

They point out the contradiction that while Taliban officials daily publish human photos on social media for their propaganda, they consider chicken images on shop signs a threat to religion.

This new policy, set to be gradually implemented across Afghanistan, represents part of the Taliban’s strict interpretation of Islamic law.

The Ministry spokesperson confirmed that people will be convinced that images of living beings are “against Sharia.”
