Pete Hegseth, US Defense Secretary whose department’s name was changed to “Department of War” by Trump’s order, spoke about America’s war in Afghanistan and said the War Department will fight decisively.
He added that the War Department will fight decisively, but not endless wars.
Hegseth, speaking alongside Donald Trump at the White House, said the War Department’s name was changed to Defense Department in 1947 and since then we haven’t won any major wars.
He emphasized this isn’t just a superficial name change but a return to warrior spirit and victory mentality.
The US War Secretary added that America will train warriors, not just defenders, and will take offensive positions rather than just defensive ones.
Trump signed an executive order on Friday changing the US Defense Department’s name to the “Department of War,” marking a symbolic shift in military approach and philosophy.
