Apple has finally allowed iPhone and iPad users to record their screens in the same quality they see them. This change comes with the latest iOS 26 beta, which upgrades screen recordings to full resolution.

This long-awaited update addresses a major limitation of Apple’s native screen recording feature introduced in 2017 with iOS 11.

Previously, users were limited to a maximum resolution of 1920 pixels, making recordings appear blurry and compressed regardless of their device’s display quality Now on iPhone 16 Pro Max, recordings jump from 884×1920 to a crisp 1320×2868 pixels, finally matching the panel resolution.

Apple has also implemented improved compression technology to keep file sizes manageable. A 12-second clip that previously took around 18.9MB now occupies just over 24MB with the enhanced resolution This ensures higher quality recordings without excessive storage consumption.
