The high-stakes battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s approximately Rs 30,000 crore estate unfolded in court as his wife Priya Kapur challenged her stepchildren’s plea for a share in his personal assets.
Karisma Kapoor’s children contested Sunjay’s March 21 will that reportedly left his entire personal estate to Priya.
Priya Kapur claimed that Karisma’s children had already received Rs 1,900 crore worth of assets under the RK Family Trust.
Her advocate argued, “I am his legal wife. Your husband left you many years ago,” referring to Karisma and Sunjay’s 2016 divorce. The court ordered Priya to provide a complete list of all movable and immovable assets.
The children alleged that Priya attempted to forge their father’s will and sought partition of the estate with permanent injunction against the defendants.
They claimed the purported will was suppressed for over seven weeks before being revealed at a July 30 family meeting. The next hearing is scheduled for October 9.
