Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has once again urged the Taliban government authorities to immediately reopen schools and universities for girls. This urgent plea comes in direct response to an alarming recent report published by the UN Childrens Fund.
UNICEF recently projected that if the current educational bans persist, Afghanistan will face a severe shortage of female teachers and healthcare workers by the end of the decade. Karzai described this emerging situation as deeply concerning for the nation.
He emphasized that excluding women severely weakens national capabilities and increases Afghanistans unhealthy reliance on foreign assistance. He firmly believes that providing universal education for all youth is the only way Afghans can independently solve their own domestic challenges.
