Taliban’s Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs officials have ordered the collection of smartphones from women and girls.

This directive was announced to the public during Friday prayers on October 2nd in mosque sermons across the country.

The Taliban group claims that women’s use of smartphones promotes corruption within families. Previously, women’s use of smartphones in mosques had already been banned in Kandahar province, indicating a pattern of increasing restrictions.

This decision has sparked widespread reactions from citizens and women’s rights activists.

They argue that after girls were deprived of formal education, online learning represents one of the most essential alternatives, which requires smartphone access for implementation.
