Local sources have reported three cases of anthrax disease in Shiratla village of Rustaq district in Takhar province.
The affected individuals include one woman, one man, and one child who became ill after consuming contaminated sheep meat.
Anthrax is a rare but dangerous bacterial disease that primarily affects livestock and wild animals, but can also be transmitted to humans through contact with infected animals.
This disease, caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis, can manifest in cutaneous, gastrointestinal, or respiratory forms.
Local residents are demanding immediate attention from the Taliban’s agriculture, livestock, and public health departments in Takhar.
Sources add that public ignorance about the disease and negligence by authorities have resulted in one death from this illness so far.
