The Commission for Naming Sacred Places, Streets and Intersections held its regular meeting chaired by Maulvi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Culture and Arts at the Ministry of Information and Culture.
The meeting discussed a petition from residents of Qaria Abbas area in Kabul’s sixth district and decided the area should continue being called Qala-e-Haidarkhan.
The commission also discussed three intersections: Shahid Aref Khan intersection in Kunduz, Anardara intersection in Farah, and Arman Group intersection in Faryab.
Based on the Taliban leadership’s decree, naming intersections, streets and public places after individuals will be prohibited.
Regarding construction of intersections in Kabul city and provinces by Jalal Foundation, the commission decided that a technical committee will draft guidelines and share them with relevant offices in the center and provinces.
