The Taliban has reduced internet speed of all telecommunication networks from 4G and 3G to 2G.
This new restriction was ordered by Mulla Hibatullah, the Taliban’s hidden leader, causing severe internet slowdown across Afghanistan.
This decision means videos cannot be watched on social networks and video upload/download is impossible.
Telecommunication networks have also been ordered to block social media platforms, with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Likee already non-functional in some provinces.
Social media users say these restrictions followed continuous exposure of sexual relationship videos involving Taliban officials.
This ban is currently being implemented nationwide across Afghanistan.
