The Taliban group has sentenced two individuals in Takhar province to 39 lashes each for allegedly fleeing their homes.

The group’s Supreme Court announced on Wednesday, October 7th, that this punishment was carried out as part of their continued policy of corporal punishment against citizens.

This action follows previous incidents where the Taliban had whipped three people in Nangarhar province.

Critics argue that the group only applies corporal punishment to ordinary citizens, while their own officials remain free despite committing corruption and crimes.

Such public punishments are considered violations of human rights and have faced criticism from the international community.

The Union of Human Rights Activists has called these actions contrary to international documents and Islamic principles.
