The Taliban group in Badghis province announced they will publicly execute an accused person tomorrow, Thursday, October 24th, in Qala-e-Naw city, the provincial center.

Sediqullah Sediqi, Taliban police spokesperson in Badghis province, issued a statement Wednesday calling on people to attend the execution at the city’s sports stadium.

The Taliban statement did not provide further details about the accused person, but the group claimed the execution will be carried out “with full compliance to Sharia principles.

” Since taking control of the country, the Taliban has continued public executions and floggings over the past four years despite international reactions and condemnation.

The United Nations and human rights organizations like Amnesty International have condemned the Taliban’s use of corporal punishment and executions, demanding their cessation.

Recently, two men were executed in Ghazni with multiple gunshots to the back in front of crowds, and days later, another person was executed in Jawzjan province.
