Mina Rafiq has publicly accused former Afghan politician Fawzia Koofi of dishonesty in a heated response on social media platform X.
Rafiq’s post came after the International Development Committee shared Koofi’s speech about peace negotiations with the Taliban. “Why would u lie? You are not our voice! In oslo u said u never negotiated! Shame on u!” Rafiq wrote.
The controversy stems from Koofi’s recent testimony where she discussed her experience negotiating with the Taliban and emphasized the need for constant monitoring of women’s inclusion in peace processes.
Koofi, who served as Afghanistan’s first female Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has been an active advocate for women’s rights from exile.
Rafiq further alleged that any attack on Koofi was not from the Taliban but from her “partners in crime,” using strong language to criticize the former parliamentarian.
